25+ Years Professional Experience.
Dale R. Landry is a consultant on Community and Restorative Justice and has
worked on several national and state initiatives. This includes the
Balanced and Restorative Justice (BARJ) Project, a national training and
technical assistance effort supported by a grant from the Office of Juvenile
Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), U.S. Department of Justice;
Florida Gulf Coast University's Center for Public and Social Policy -
Community Justice Initiative; Florida Department of Juvenile Justice and
Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University's Department of Social Work -
Disproportionate Minority Contact Initiative; and both The Community Trust
Corporation's Targeted Community Action Planning and Neighborhood
Accountability Board Training and Technical Assistance Initiatives.
He is also the CEO of Village Architects Inc., a consortium of
multi-disciplinary professionals, that work with communities to overcome the
challenges of community based crime. Dale's area of expertise is in
developing community capacity and strategies to overcome crime through
adoption and implementation of the broader community justice philosophy and
practices.
Dale received his B.S. degree in Management from the University of
Maryland-European Division, an A.S. degree in Law Enforcement Technology and
is currently in the graduate Masters of Social Work Program at Florida
Agriculture and Mechanical University. He has received specialized training
in Restorative Justice, Domestic Violence Intervention, Juvenile Delinquency
and Gang Violence and is certified as both a Florida Department of Law
Enforcement Instructor and Restorative Justice Trainer and is a licensed
private investigator. With over 21 years law enforcement investigations,
training, management and operational experience he has served in numerous
positions: Military Policeman, Investigator, Detachment Commander,
Community-Policing and Domestic Violence Unit Supervisor,
District/Regional/Senior Law Enforcement Operations Manager and Executive
Staff Advisor, culminating as a course manager at the U.S. Army Military
Police School.
After retiring from the U.S. Army, he gained additional experience as:
Adjunct Instructor for a Florida criminal justice academy, Family Advocacy
Consultant and Volunteer Instructor for a domestic violence shelter and
mandatory batterer's training program, Regional Inspector for the Florida
Department of Juvenile Justice, Executive Director for a community-based
juvenile intervention program servicing four separate communities and
Project Coordinator for a community-based neighborhood justice program.
Dale has served as a presenter and panelist at the: 1998 Department of
Justice's OJJDP National Conference, Florida Attorney General's 14th, 15th,
16th, 17th and 18th Annual Prevent Crime in the Black Community Conference,
and the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges and the
National District Attorneys Association 27th National Conference on Juvenile
Justice. Dale serves on both national and local community efforts in
building community capacity to overcome crime related problems, on the Board
of Directors for the Victim-Offender Mediation Association (VOMA) and serves
as Chair, Program (Training and Services) Committee; Tallahassee Branch of
the NAACP, as Chairman of the Criminal Justice Committee; and member of the
Big Bend Victim Assistance Coalition. Dale has received the Tallahassee
Chapter National Foundation of Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) 2002
Human/Social Service Public Service and the Big Bend National Association of
Social Workers (NASW) 2003 Public Citizen of the Year Awards.
